Daniel Loher is a Munich-based Photographer, Director of Photography, and Director with over twenty years of experience crafting visual stories for cinema, television, commercials, documentaries, and portrait photography.

Whether working with moving or still images, his work is driven by a desire to create atmosphere and emotional depth through light, composition, and close collaboration with directors, actors, and creative teams — always in service of story, character, and authentic human connection.

Before stepping fully into cinematography, he spent more than sixteen years as a Steadicam Operator, developing a deep understanding of physical storytelling that continues to inform his approach to camera movement, composition, and working with performers. Having lived in London and Los Angeles and worked internationally, he brings a calm, adaptable presence to every production.

Alongside his work in film, portrait photography has become an increasingly important part of his creative practice, while directing personal narrative projects allows him to further explore his own visual voice as a storyteller. His portraits are shaped by a cinematic sensibility and a collaborative approach, focusing on capturing honest, nuanced moments rather than simply creating images.

 

He is a member of the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK) and the Steadicam Operators Association (SOA).
